I have been playing about 1.5 weeks now. I just activated my account, because I feel like I have learned a lot, and now that it is the summer for me, I have time to play games again. Here are some random questions (I am a Minmatar Soldier):
1) Right now I am picking agents at random. They may not even be my race, and be in a corp that doesn't interest me. Basically I am just looking for ways to make money. What I want is some direction. I want to work my way toward level 4 missions. Is there a major NPC corp that has a wide range of agents to work for (I only like two kinds of agents...all courier for when I want to read a book or all fighting when I want to actively play)? Basically, is there some major NPC corp that most Minmatars would want to do missions for throughout their entire career?
2) I went ratting my first time ever tonight (also my first time in 0.4). I felt like this was lucrative compared to some of the stuff I have been doing. Will I ever be able to achieve higher levels of agents by ratting? Or will I have to spend many boring hours making little money with low level agents to get to the big fish?
3) Most stations I go to seem deserted. I don't seem to ever be able to sell my loot for decent money. I cannot have enough orders to sell everything either (trying to work on that, but have too many skills currently that need attention). Am I treating the market wrong?
4) I really like the sound of the Vagabond, so I am going to be loosely heading in that direction. I am currently using a Rifter, and it is VERY frustrating to have a full cargo hold in just a couple of kills. Is there another ship good at pve I can work towards that will provide a better pve killing experience and more cargo space? Basically, in what direction should I be heading. I have heard people talking about the "Ruppy" which I am going to assume is the Rupture. Is that typically the next ship I should be looking to get into? Also, would these ships also be what I should be looking at using when I get to L4 missions?

Thanks for all the help. I did not realize that I had all the tools needed to train Destroyers. Is there ever a reason to take Destroyer past level 1?
I think for now I am going to try and do missions for Republic Security Services as suggested above. I found an L1 upper quality that does 50/50 fight and courier. This works just fine for me.
There are just SO MANY skills to train at this point I am having trouble figuring out where to start (other than learning crap...which I cannot afford the advanced books anyway).

Is there any place to farm for the advanced learning skill books? I have played 1.5 weeks and only barely get into 4E6 ISK, clearly not even enough to buy one skill book. If I could get them by killing rats that would be nice :)

Out of curiosity then, where do the skill books come from? Somebody has to get them from somewhere.

Edited by: Jadyn Vas on 09/05/2008 20:58:16 I am going to go by some of the advice I heard earlier and try Isendilik. It is 18 jumps away so I hope it is worth it
I also just shelled out a lot of my money on a Thrasher.
I fitted it similar to http://www.battleclinic.com/forum/index.php/topic,19500.msg93090.html#msg93090
Edit: I know this game is 5 years old now. Do I have to worry about it dieing anytime soon? It is always one of those fears with me about an MMO. I don't want to invest a year into a char and have the game be a ghost town at that point.

Well, I really wanted to join EVE University to begin learning the game, and recruiting almost opened tonight, but another war was declared, so I do not think I will ever be able to get in. I think there is a back log of 500 new people wanting in. Not sure why people do not want EVE Uni to help new people. I figure almost every corp would be for it so new people have a great head start in knowing how to fit right in.
Are there any other "noob friendly" corps? I am playing to game to get into pvp. I only want to do non-illegal pvp (as in, always have security rating go up).

Had a guy in a Crow pod me in 0.3, well, had to happen the first time some time....
Funny thing is, in his bio he says "Please do not pod me blah blah", something about good implants. Seems kinda hypocritical...
He nearly 1 shotted me, I tried to run away, obviously warp scrambled. Then proceeded to pod me. I am sure my 100k worth of loot in my cargo hold is really going to help him...I was so close to getting my first advanced learning skill book too. Oh well, I know the risks.

Edited by: Jadyn Vas on 12/05/2008 04:29:23 Nothing big. Just stuff I get from killing 8k-50k bounty NPCs. I am just trying to get enough ISK to start buying the advanced learning skill books. Everything I have done so far has been completely solo and starting out from scratch, so it has definitely been a learning experience.

Thanks for the reply. I will probably eventually take them to 4. I will never take them to 5.
I kind of wish CCP would have never added them in the first place and made training time equivalent to already having them (personal opinion: I am new to the game and wish I did not need to do these skills and could have put those SPs into something to get me in level 2s and 3s quicker, and not hurt my character in the long run). I like implants though.
